The official website of Brian Crider's run for House Of Representatives!

Hello my name is Brian Crider and I believe it is time for a new era in American Politics. For too long we have been forced to choose between Democrats and Republicans. It is time that we move beyond the two party system and special interests groups in Congress and get someone who will stand up for the people.

I would like to invite you to look around my website and check out where I stand on the issues and see what you think. Feel free to contact me with any questions, if you would like me to clarify anything, or just to give me your opinion. This is your government and your opinion matters, so make it heard.

    Chesapeake Tuesday
Posted by Brian Crider on Wednesday February 6, 2008 8:06 PM

I would like to take this time to encourage everyone to vote on Chesapeake Tuesday (February 12).

With the heated race between all the Democrat and Republican candidates, the votes in our state actually matters. Usually, the candidates on both sides are decided by now but since this race is so tight, Maryland actually gets a say this primary.

It should be a great race and I look forward to seeing the results. Please, take the time on Tuesday to get out to the polls and vote for the candidate your heart follows.

    District Change
Posted by Brian Crider on Saturday February 2, 2008 10:43 AM

Due to the Green Party's request, I will be running in the forth district instead of the eighth in Maryland.

It has also been brought to my attention that the direct email (brian@votecrider.com) is sending back a failed message. The email is going through, however. We are currently working on this issue.

    SCHIP
Posted by Brian Crider on Saturday December 15, 2007 4:17 PM

SCHIP is the program that provides health insurance to children who do not qualify for Medicaid but can not afford healthcare on their own or through an employee sponsored plan. Healthcare is one of the essential things needed in this world to survive. Until we can manage to obtain universal healthcare for everyone, we should make every effort to cover those in poverty or those right above poverty who can not afford it.

The opponents to this bill state that it is unfunded. It is a funded bill. They have stated they are going to increase the cigarette tax in order to fund it. Other critics have said that it would encourage other people to drop out of their current health insurance programs in favor of SCHIPS. They are wrong because there are parts of the legislation that prevent this from happening. We also need to look at the coverage and the cost for a child's healthcare and ask if it is putting an unfair burden upon their family. If it is putting an unfair burden upon their family, then why shouldn't the government help so they could better their lives?

The objective of programs like this one is to not only provide for a child's well being, but to also help families get out of poverty.
